Strategy for English Section

To get good command over the English Section you need to follow a certain routine. The English section is a mix of Grammar, Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehension (RC). You have to master these three things in a systematic manner. Let’s discuss this in detail.

Make reading your habit. Remember you cannot build your vocabulary overnight. Only regular practice will help you to master it. Read a good English newspaper daily and read editorial articles religiously.

Make a note of important words, their meanings, synonyms, and antonyms that you come across while reading. Revise them daily. Error detection questions in the English section is the examiner's favorite area to set the trap for aspirants. Revise all the grammar rules 2-3 times a week to retain them in your memory which will help you in the error detection questions.

Practice RC on a daily basis. If you practice a single RC in a day but with a thorough analysis you will gain an edge in this section. Practice Questions and brush up your preparations with mock tests. 2-3 Sectional mocks in a week with proper analysis will do wonders in the actual exam.

Strategy for Reasoning Section

The reasoning section is all about your logical thinking abilities. The English reading skills also play an important role in this section. Let us take the example of a puzzle question, in this if you misunderstood a single line then your entire puzzle goes wrong which costs you 4 to 5 marks and this is a big score to lose in bank exams.

There are some topics that require daily practice such as puzzles, seating arrangements, syllogisms, inequality, input-output, blood relation, etc. this topic demands regular practice to excel speed in actual exams.

Strategy for Quantitative Section

This section is one where you can score with high accuracy. Preparing for this section you have to follow the structural method. After clearing the basics of every individual topic, you must practice rigorously the basics to advance questions of that topic. Practice is the only key to increasing speed and accuracy. This will boost your confidence regarding that topic. After sufficient practice, you can go to the sectional test and analyze your weak areas in this section.

“Face the fear of quant and then the fear will be fearless” this line will be well suited for the students who always fear the Quant section and always procrastinate about learning and practice. You can never skip this topic if you want to score well in your main exam.

Strategy for General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness

Make newspaper reading your habit for the daily current news. Static GK questions regarding current affairs are frequently asked in banking exams. Multiple revision is the key in this section. Most of the aspirants face trouble in remembering the names of the rivers, national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, headquarters of banks, etc. for a longer time without revising it daily.

In the morning we tend to be better at Declarative Memory tasks – which is our ability to recall exact details, like names, places, dates, and facts. Start your day with the daily current affairs news. Revise the previous month’s current affairs in the morning time. In this way, you can remember the Current news for a longer time. Revise one static GK part daily and make notes of it.

Strategy for Descriptive writing section

Descriptive writing is asked in the main exams and it consists of essays and letters. Most of the aspirants start their preparation for this topic after being shortlisted for mains and here they make the mistake.

Preparation of this topic should be started from the initial stage of preparation. Reading 2 to 3 essays and letters in a week is more than sufficient. In this way, you can be well familiar with this thing and you will not be tense at the time of the mains exam.

Type an essay and a letter in a week to maintain the typing speed. Typing speed of at least 30wpm is enough in the exam. Reading habits of an aspirant will help aspirants to perform well in descriptive sections.
